BERENGRAVE  NATURE  RESERVE
A particular environment, a sort of “residual” ecosystem, escaped from improper uses (first quarry, then polygon, then eventual landfill) and renaturalized thanks to the ability of plants to colonize even apparently impossible environments. There are many places like this throughout Europe, but I have chosen to focus attention on a fundamental aspect: that of the victory of nature even to works created to be able to approach and better conserve it. Thus paths, roads, and fences end up being wrapped in creepers or underwater when the water table of the nearby river rises. An almost textbook example of resilience!
